Who we are

I am a professional editor, who has worked in the industry since 2001, both in a traditional publishing house and for developmental editing services.

I have edited fiction and non-fiction, everything from a plumbing manual and building codes to self-help books, devotionals, and Christian non-fiction to young adult dystopian fiction, romance, Christian fiction, general fiction, and children's books.

Jodi Tahsler, editor extraordinaire

I have worked in the publishing industry since I graduated in 2001 with a degree in English from Grove City College in Grove City, PA. Even before that, I read every book that our local library had to offer, and then some! I love the written word. I love crafting witty sentences. And I especially love correcting other people's work! (Also, if you couldn't tell from the last sentence, I have a sense of humor and I'm fun to work with.)

I worked for a small traditional publishing company outside Pittsburgh for 6 years, where I became experienced in the whole process of publishing. There, I was lead editor on approximately 12 to 15 books each year, while also copy editing and proofreading my colleagues' work. We also created book layouts using InDesign and wrote cover blurbs and ad copy.

From there, I moved on to the International Code Council, where I edited building codes. It may not sound exciting, but it keeps your home and office standing! This is where I gained experience in technical writing.

Since 2005, I have worked as a freelance editor for various manuscript development websites, as well as on my own. I have worked on a little bit of everything, and while I don't profess to be an expert in all areas, I do have the one skill an editor needs: the ability to recognize when (s)he needs to look something up!

In addition to editing, I am a composition coach for an online Literature Program, where I work with high schoolers to develop their writing skills.

My mission is provide affordable editing services. You get what you pay for, and your book deserves a professional set of eyes to make it the best it can be. There's much more to my resume than what is listed here. I want you to be comfortable and confident with your decision. Contact me for more information.
